HOW HOT ARE YOUR TYRES? A PYROMETER CAN TELL YOU…
Dec 31st
The compact B-G Racing pyrometer is easy to use for both left- or right-handed users.
The pyrometer records three temperatures per tyre and stores up to 10 sets of memory at any time. The device has the ability to calculate the average tyre temperatures for each side of the vehicle, the cross corners and the axles.
An auto-lock recording feature is incorporated, which means once the highest temperature is seen it is automatically recorded and the user can move to the next location on the tyre.
All four brake temperatures can be recorded and stored in the 10 sets memory, but the brake More >
COOL RUNNINGS

One of our favourite car care brands is Kent-based KLEERS and the company located in Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey has expanded their range with a superb and portable jetwash machine.
The Jetwash 1000 is a handy, self-contained cleaning solution with a detachable water tank that can hold 17-litres of water comes with a carry strap/handle and has an integrated onboard battery.
This means that it can be charged via a 240v mains plug and can work continuously for 40-minutes on a single charge that should easily be enough to do the honours on a car. I used it on my X5 and More >

BURTON POWER WILL GET YOU OUT OF THE KITTY LITTER!
Dec 24th
Burton Power will shortly be announcing the dates of its six trackday events for 2016. If you’re planning on going along it’s worth noting that most circuits insist on your car having a front towing eye to allow the recovery team to remove your car from the track in the event of it becoming immobile.
For modern cars this usually involves screwing in the towing eye that came with the vehicle, but for classics the towing eye(s) may not be so conveniently or obviously located (if they were even fitted), which might result in the recovery team resorting to using a More >
RE-WIND!
Dec 24th
Laser Tools reckon you don’t need all those brake rewind tool adaptors! They say they have a better solution. This new brake rewind tool (part number 6329) features an adjustable two-pin adaptor that will fit pistons with a pin distance between 20 – 35mm – this covers many popular vehicle applications.
The big advantage of this rewind tool is that it features a powerful internal spring, which applies firm pressure to the piston as you turn the T-handle to make sure the inner piston mechanism is wound back.
The set also includes an adjustable three-pin adaptor, which is designed for electronic park More >
FOR WHEN YOU NEED SPACE!
Dec 24th
A comfortable and ergonomic driving position is vital for safe driving, both on the road and on the track.
The ergonomic driver-to-wheel distance may be difficult to achieve with aftermarket seats and steering wheels. These new spacers from B-G Racing are designed to bring the steering wheel closer to the driver for improved steering input and driver comfort.
They are multi-drilled for both 6x70mm and 6x74mm PCD bolt patterns to accommodate the majority of aftermarket steering wheels. The two bolt patterns allow the spacers to be used as a hub spacer and/or an adaptor to enable cross compatibility between hub and steering More >
ARIES HAS A CHANGE OF FORTUNE!
Dec 17th
I’ve always rated the STM Loco Lotus Seven-inspired sportscar and when Steve Huckerby took it over and spent a lot of time and graft on converting it to fully accept Mazda MX-5 mechanicals in addition to the Ford-based car. A good kit package I always thought.
News this week that a new kitcar manufacturer, run by Capel Laniltern- (near Cardiff) based Phil Edwards, who is retaining the Aries Motorsport name, has acquired the project and has wasted little time in tearing into it adding further CAD elements to the package and tidying up the chassis jig. The company will be making More >
LONG WAY FROM SATURN TO STOCKTON-ON-TEES!
Dec 17th
Hartlepool-based Saturn Sports Cars was one of the first companies to supply panels and parts for the Haynes Roadster model. Their modest star flickered brightly for a short while before they ceased trading.
The project moved next door (literally!) to NTS for five minutes before heading south, passing to another Haynes Roadster specialist, Gilham Engineering although they keep a very low profile. Therefore it was with interest that I heard this week that it has returned home to the North East, now under the control of Stockton-on-Tees-based VMax Composites, run by Dave Williams.
