TENTH BIRTHDAY FOR WAXSTOCK

Waxstock, Europe’s largest festival of all things car care, perhaps even the world, recently turned ten. It celebrated in grand style, opening its doors to approximately 4000 detailing devotees and some of the biggest names in the automotive cleaning game.

Despite being held in the expansive Coventry Arena, it was very much standing room only as guests piled in throughout the weekend to take in the rather aromatic atmosphere, chat to the experts behind their favourite brands and ogle at the clinically prepared show cars. As you might imagine, in a room full of their peers, the standards of preparation for More >

LINING THE ‘DUCTS’ UP

These new cold air ram ducts (96mm) from Car Builder Solutions will do a good job of ducting air as well as looking stylish. They are ideal for use with air filters or sending air to brakes.

They are made from lightweight aluminium and can also be bonded into the bodywork to duct cold air direct to your inlet manifold.

The ducts have a 96mm OD and a 140mm maximum diameter. They can be blasted back to natural aluminium or even painted.

Two colours are available (they don’t come with ducting, by the way) – Blue (RAM96B) or Red (RAM96R) and both are More >

BACK TO THE FUTURE

I did smile when I saw that bicycle brand Raleigh had re-launched their iconic Chopper. It’s been four years in development that has required some changes to meet modern standards. This mainly means a lowered rear roll-hoop and fitting modern brakes that do actually work unlike on the orange Mk1 I had in 1973 but look the same!

Otherwise, it is pretty much as was including its three-speed gear hub operated by a t-shifter handle. A variety of upgrades and spare parts are available some of which are compatible with the original Chopper.

Two launch colours are available – Infrared and Ultraviolet More >

LEDS MADE EASY

Renowned lighting specialist, OSRAM, has introduced an exciting new range – LEDriving® HL EASY – for LED high and low beam lamps that come with a plug-and-play system, meaning no adapters or caps are needed!

To take after its name – LEDriving® EASY – OSRAM has made this product as easy as possible, especially for drivers upgrading their halogen bulbs to LED for the first time, as it can be difficult with the extra accessories that are sometimes needed.

To do this, the company has manufactured these bulbs as socket-based, meaning it has no external driver and it also doesn’t need additional caps or More >

CLUTCHING AT STRAWS

Burton Power now has a Hydraulic Clutch Nose Slave Cylinder to convert Ford’s Type 9 five-speed, Rocket/Type E and 2000E/Type 3 gearboxes to hydraulic operation.

The clutch nose slave cylinder is centrally mounted against the gearbox, which provides the most efficient method of operating all push-release type clutches. This design is commonly used in multiple forms of motorsport and is also popular for road conversions.

For a complete conversion, the following will be required: the nose slave cylinder, a release bearing (HD4941), a mount (APC6) and a hydraulic feed line with a bleed kit (APC8). All of these are available separately from More >

ROUND THE BEND!

When your exhaust system or turbo plumbing project ventures beyond off-the-shelf components, Vibrant Performance Mandrel-Bent Tubing is what you need to build customer headers, downpipes, intercooler pipes, and more.

The tubing is available in two types of stainless steel. Bends made from 304 stainless steel is available in twelve diameters ranging from 1 1/4in to 5in OD in 15-, 45-, 60-, 90-, 120- and 180-degree angles.

CRIKEY, THAT’S A RELIEF

It’s a fact; summer temperatures are getting hotter. This can cause some serious radiator problems, but Design Engineering Inc (who is based in the USA where extreme temperatures are more common) have a well-tested remedy …

DEI’s Radiator Relief™ is a high-performance coolant additive that ‘supercharges’ the radiator by transferring heat more efficiently through the radiator to prevent overheating.

Radiator Relief is designed to reduce the coolant’s surface tension, which maximises the thermal conductivity and transfer process through the cooling system.

This coolant additive has been proven in the desert heat of the Southwestern United States. It will reduce engine operating temperature by More >

THE STORY OF ROY WINKELMANN RACING

A KING OF FORMULA 2 STEVE HOLE TELLS THE STORY OF ROY WINKELMANN RACING

Another of motorsport’s best-known ‘unknown’ teams was the eponymous Roy Winkelmann Racing squad.

Born in 1930, Winkelmann thrived on being slightly mysterious and began racing a Cooper-Bristol in the early sixties before setting up his own team, first in sportscars in 1961 with Danny Collins driving a Corvette at Goodwood followed by a Lotus 23 in sports-racing events.

What better way than to show the Roy Winkelman Racing livery than to promote a great scale model company and their lovely 1/8-scale Winkleman Lotus 59B F2 car (powered by Cosworth More >
