ANOTHER TRIBUTE FROM TRIBUTE AUTOMOTIVE

A new product from Tribute Automotive is a rather fetching tribute (sorry – ed) to the classic BMW 507, based, rather handily on Z3. Tribute boss Chris Welch is cracking on with this new one and encouraged by positive comments to posts on the company’s Facebook page.

Early days yet and no information on pricing as yet but we’ll bring you that info as soon as it’s announced. One thing is for sure, it’ll be an effective pastiche, easy to build and affordable.

In the meantime and until Chris releases more images you can find out more about Tribute’s existing products at More >

USE LEDS – DON’T BE DIM!

If you’ve got an MGB-based kitcar then this new dimmable dashboard light kit from Better Car Lighting could be right up your street.

LED bulbs are great but when you use them in an older car situation, they often either don’t work or they cause a few gremlins such as not allowing a dimming function and the like.

Gil Keane’s kit features a resistor lead and decent LEDs that come in warm white, ivory white, daylight white, ice blue or even sapphire blue or emerald green.

The kit also upgrades the warning lights on your dashboard, too.

A possible bargain at £71.98 inc VAT. More >

DON’T BE ABRASIVE

If you’re not a professional when it comes to a spray gun or using abrasives on a GRP body, then it can be a big issue especially if you make a mess of the job too.

Decent abrasives are important when rubbing down and you really need to achieve a nice, smooth finish.

New from Mirka is Iridium SR, a new abrasive that will give you a uniform, consistent cut and scratch pattern that you’ll find easy to polish out. They could be great for ridding a GRP boy of unsightly mould flash-lines, for example.

They feature what Mirka calls ‘tri-dimensional technology silicon More >

SEALED WITH A GASKET!

Nothing can drive you crazier than the tick-tick-tick sound of leaking or blown exhaust header or collector gaskets. Extreme heat really kills most composition-style gaskets, causing them to shrink or burn out.

That’s why you have to re-torque header bolts regularly. Exhaust leaks can also be caused by header flanges or even cylinder head exhaust flanges that warp due to the constant cold-hot thermal cycling of the engine.

Remflex Exhaust Gaskets can help solve those issues. They are made from 100 per cent flexible graphite and can withstand temperatures up to 3000 degrees F. They simply won’t shrink or burn out, eliminating More >

This kit is available from stock as part More >
