SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE!

Change the way your remove transmissions forever! Developed by a time-served mechanic for Laser Tools – when combined with a traditional transmission jack this patented Laser transmission support arm (part number 8579), simplifies gearbox removal and fitting by supporting the gearbox from above. The specially-shaped arm goes up the side of the gearbox and gives an attachment point to hang the support strap and chains supplied.

Because the gearbox is hanging from the support it is much easier to manoeuvre both in and out of position. The Laser transmission support arm turns a transmission jack from underneath support, into a much More >

STEVE HOLE tells the story of SUPERSPEED (CONVERSIONS) LTD

Another of the well-known sixties tuning companies was Ley Street, Ilford-based Superspeed (Conversions).

The men behind the company were brothers, John and Mike Young and their operation was part of and located next to, Ford dealer, Youngs of Ilford founded by their father, Mike Young senior.

They rose to prominence with their racing activities when John and Mike took their first steps in motorsport in their maroon-hued (actually a BMC colour called Crimson Lake) Fords.

New universal vehicle battery pack from Swindon Powertrain High Energy Density (HED) gives a one-size-fits-all solution to vehicle builders and converters and does away with the need to use reconditioned packs, although depending on where they come from there’s nothing wrong with them.

This popular engine is used in many kitcars. With many of the original carburettors approaching the end of their useful life, a Weber 32/34 DMTL manual choke carburettor conversion will breathe new life into these performance cars.

The Weber Twin Choke Conversion Kit can be ordered as part number PFO103 and includes a new Webcon manifold, a Weber 32/34 DMTL carburettor jetted for the 1.6-litre CVH engine, an air filter and an OEM air box adaptor, as well as a new choke cable.

ON THE SPOT

This new spot weld cutter kit from Laser Tools (part number 8543) combines a high-quality 8mm HSS twist drill together with a 70mm extender and is designed to drill out or cut through spot-welds allowing for the weld to be broken and the welded panels taken apart.

The flat profile of the drill cutting face produces a burr-free hole leaving the underlying panel undamaged. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating on the spot-weld drill results in a sharp cut plus improved service life. Use on alloy and hardened steel where more heat may be generated.
