SEVEN TOOLKITS

Caterham Cars has teamed-up with workshop tool experts, Draper Tools, for the latest initiative to celebrate the iconic sportscar company’s 40-years of building and developing the Seven.

The next 40 customers who buy a Seven in component form will receive a bespoke, co-branded toolkit free of charge.

Draper Tools, an existing Caterham Motorsport sponsor, has designed the kit specifically to tackle the job of building a Caterham Seven from its component parts.

The toolkit, which would normally retail for more than £800, includes every item required to construct a Seven, including several devices not found in typical sets.

SLICK SHIFTER

Plenty of Ford Type 9 Five Speed Gearboxes in use in kitcars of and for that extra period-correct look, Burton Power has produced a five-speed gearknob that is a faithful replica of the original Escort Mk2 RS four-speed item – but with a five speed shift pattern on the top.

The shape and texture was reliably copied from a Ford item so the replication detail includes a perfect unworn pattern on the outside of the gear knob.

The knob will fit most vehicles with a gear lever with a M10x1.5mm pitch thread and you can order it as part number PL115, with More >

CONTROLLED WEAR

Lucas Oil has invested significantly in motorsport this season, raising its profile, increasing end user awareness on behalf of motor factors, retailers and garages and proving the quality of performance at the same time.

As part of the Lucas Oils UK Drift Team’s preparations for the 2013 season, the team removed the rear differential as part of its planned maintenance routine. This unit usually performs under extreme pressure, coping with over 1000bhp during most outings.

The unit was stripped and – unexpectedly – found to have no wear issues or damage at all. The condition was found to be almost as new. More >

THIS AIN’T NO SOAPBOX!

Flexibility is the name of the game and this versatile B-G Racing Folding Pit Trolley has it by the bucket-load.

The tough, versatile performer folds down to take up minimal storage space but is spacious enough to transport wheels, tyres, tools and even Euro bins round the paddock, pit garage and workshop.

The pit trolley features two fixed and two robust swivelling wheels and can be either pulled by hand or has the possibility to attach a uni-ball towing hitch to the boss in the handle, allowing the trolley to be connected to a paddock vehicle or quad bike.

The MOMO ‘Eagle’ steering wheel features a full leather rim with perforated leather top and inner rim and two MOMO logos. One on the horn push and one engraved on the spokes – after all you can’t have too much of a good thing!

WATERLESS A-SERIES

Mini Spares is now offering Evans Waterless Engine Coolant for classic engines.

The product will improve cooling performance, reliability and will reduce corrosion and we’ve used it very successfully on our workhorse BMW X5 for over a year now.

For performance engines they have Power Cool waterless engine coolant, which is similar to the Classic Cool product but offers increased protection for race engines and units with aluminium cylinder heads such as the Mini Spares eight-port.

Like Classic Cool it improves cooling performance, reliability and reduces corrosion. EVANS003 prep fluid must be used beforehand.

Prep fluid (2-litre) retails at £29.96 inc VAT, Classic Cool More >

WE GOT WAX AND IT’S IN STOCK

Waxstock, the UK’s specialist car care and detailing show – arguably the largest show of its type in the world – returns to Peterborough Arena on Sunday, July 7, 2013 and according to the organisers, it’s going to be even bigger and better than the inaugural event in 2012, with more hall-space, more features and more exhibitors.

Organised by Detailing World, Zaino Europe and Dodo Juice, the event has attracted sponsorship in 2013 from Farecla (G3 Professional range), Scholl Concepts and the Pro Valeters and Detailers association. Over 2000 enthusiast visitors will be expected at the one day show, with some More >

FASTER? IT’S RAPIDE

The Calibre Rapide follows a long tradition of timelessly elegant multi-spoke wheels. Designed to shamelessly look like a much more expensive wheel than it is, the Rapide balances ‘big ticket’ looks with a price-point that is well within the reach of the average enthusiast.

The beauty of a well-designed multi-spoke is, of course, that it suits almost any and every genre of car. Equally at home on anything from a humble super-mini, right through to an executive saloon, Calibre’s designers have taken heed of this, making the Rapide available in a wide range of sizes and staggered widths to ensure that More >

POCKET MONEY HYPERCAR?

Been out this week at Blyton Park testing the superb Road Track Race MEVabusa, which managed to stun me with its sheer performance ability.

Blyton’s billiard table smooth 1.7-mile circuit was the perfect venue to test the 560kg exo-skeletal car with, as the name suggests, a Suzuki GSX-R1300 Hayabusa power that delivers around 180bhp.

Luckily, despite monsoon conditions either side of our test the weather remained dry, which was handy given the performance on tap. With a kit priced at £6000 inc VAT this means that a decent DIY build can be completed from around £12,000, which from what I experienced makes More >
