Remember, that for motorsport (a good idea for trackdays, too) use your fire extinguisher must be serviced every two-years inline with FIA recommendations. Merlin Motorsport services SPA and Lifeline Zero 2000 and onsite at their HQ within the grounds of Castle Combe circuit.

LIFELINE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES – The bottles have a ten-year life from the year of manufacture. Any bottles older than ten-years must be replaced. Due to the introduction of FIA Technical List 16 for fire extinguishers, it is no longer possible to replace just the bottle from your older system, it will mean a full refit of a new system.

HOW TO CHECK EXPIRY DATES ON EXTINGUISHER LABELS

With a view to helping their customers understand the servicing requirements of their Lifeline extinguisher, Merlin has produced a document showing what to look for on the main labels and service labels of your bottle.

HOW TO GET YOUR EXTINGUISHER TO MERLIN MOTORSPORT FOR SERVICE

IMPORTANT – please call or email them before sending your bottle and they will be able to confirm that your particular bottle is serviceable by them (a couple of the 360 bottles need to be returned directly to Lifeline for servicing).

1. If you’re local enough to the Chippenham area they can arrange for you to drop off and collect when ready from their workshop at Castle Combe. This does need to be by prior arrangement – see more detail here.

2. You can post your extinguisher to them and they’ll service and return it ASAP.
