NOT JUST REPLICAS FROM RACE CAR REPLICAS
Race Cars Replicas and its Superlite Cars division build some stunning specialist cars, both in replica and modern design forms. Many of them are available in kit form, too. They are more than happy to ship to the UK, too. I think you’ll find that there are more of their products in the UK than you think.
I really like their Superlite SL-C. It was designed and engineered by a small group of dedicated engineers, designers and craftsmen.
It’s a technologically advanced vehicle featuring an all-aluminium monocoque tubular hybrid with billet machined suspension mounts. As such it was a clean-sheet, modern car that was infused with state-of-the-art technology that helps make it easier to build and even better to drive.
For example, you don’t even need to paint it as you can buff the gelcoat and go. Panel fit is excellent and the doors fit right out of the mould and don’t need weeks of trimming and fettling to attach properly to the body.
The SL-C has custom aluminium suspension arms and uprights that are CNC-machined in-house and the SL-C has double-adjustable aluminium dampers that are race-derived.
The chassis and suspension parts are truly designed to work together, so you have proper camber and bump-steer curves, and more than enough caster.
RCR didn’t just want the car to look like a racing car they decided to prove its provenance on track. Indeed, they set lap records at every track they visited on the way to winning the 2011 NASA Super Unlimited class National Championship.
Everything on the championship-winning car is a standard or optional off-the-shelf part from Superlite. A spokesperson for the company told me: “We sell what we race, so our builders and owners can have the confidence that their cars are actually race-proven.”
It certainly is a beautiful thing. More from www.superlitecars.com ENDS.
