EXCLUSIVE – VERY COOL NEW ARRIVAL

EXCLUSIVE EXCLUSIVE EXCLUSIVE EXCLUSIVE

Exciting new arrival from our mates Phil Edwards (Aries Motorsport) and Andy Bates (AB Performance), which is full of innovation and undoubtedly massive potential.

It’s based on the AB/Aries Arion, a full-bodied kit, obviously, and one we featured in TKC Mag a year or so back. We loved it, by the way. Owned by Gary ‘The Rocking Rev’ Gotham at the time, it was the first road-going Arion. Gary can regularly be seen around his Wiltshire home – and well beyond – enjoying his Arion

Meanwhile, the new arrival uses the Arion’s spaceframe chassis, which cunningly means that the More >

PROTECT THOSE FASTENERS

I think we all know how easy it is to damage nicely-plated fasteners with heavy-handed socket use.

However, Laser Tools has the answer with six-socket inserts that fit metric fasteners from 8mm-17mm. They come in a snap-together metal ring making keeping them tidy very simple.

Choose the insert you require and slot it into the relevant socket. For example, for a 13mm fastener, the insert fits into a 17mm socket.

Part number 7463 retails at £7.63 with more information fromwww.lasertools.co.uk ENDS.

YOU WON’T BE CLUTCHING AT STRAWS

Engines rated at 800-,900-, or even 1000-plus lb/ft. of torque are not uncommon. That’s a lot of torque for a clutch assembly to handle. Years ago, racers found a solution in the twin-disc clutch. The extra disc increases the clutch assembly’s total surface area, which essentially doubles the clamping force compared to a similar single-disc clutch. A twin-disc clutch also does away with the need for a really stiff pressure plate to apply high clamp loads.

A great example of a road-spectwin-disc clutch is Tilton’s new ST-246. Designed for Tremec T-56 six-speed and TKO five-speed transmissions, Tilton borrowed technology from its racing clutches More >

NOT JUST TOOLS

While I was at Great British Sports Cars last week and being blown away by developments at the Nottinghamshire-based company including a sneak peek of a new GBS model called the, oooh sorry I’m not allowed to say just yet. It looks very cool, though. I did bag a drive of the brand new Zero Gen 2.Very good.

I also spied a stunning-looking Ford Escort Mk2 in their workshop. Initially, I thought it was a nice restoration job on a metal-bodied car, but oh no …

There’s a lot more to it than that. GBS is working with leading North Wales rally More >
