Burton Power has announced that the ATB limited slip differentials made exclusively for them by Quaife are now available for numerous front wheel drive Ford applications.
The Quaife ATB is a direct replacement for the standard, factory ‘open’ differential and differs from other LSD units in that it uses gears rather than clutch plates for its operation.
To the driver, especially of a front wheel drive car, the result is significant; the superior traction eliminates the harsh steering wheel snatch or torque steer that have long been associated with performance differentials.
The Quaife ATB helical gear limited slip differential provides a safe, progressive, seamless action, and never ‘locks’. Controlled power is transmitted to all driven wheels to maximise traction and minimise wheel spin, particularly in slippery conditions.
The differential eliminates unwanted understeer or oversteer and works in harmony with the factory OEM electronic stability programmes. It also improves braking performance by reducing braking lock-ups and minimising ABS intrusion. Being gear operated, there are no clutch plates to replace – ever!
