MORE … MORE … WE WANT AN ENCORE!

New from Caterham Cars is another limited edition model, this time celebrating the end of the relationship between the Ford Sigma engine and the Seven. It has certainly made an impact during its time powering Caterham’s finest not only in roadgoing versions but also on track in the 310R Championship.

It’s called the 310 Encore and just 25 will be produced. With a power-to-weight ratio of 281bhp per tonne, it packs a punch as that’s 15 per cent more than a Porsche 911 Carrera, which kind of puts it in perspective.

As Caterham’s blurb says: “Heavy metal it certainly isn’t, but the Encore definitely rocks …”

There are a pair of standard colours – Back in Black or White Noise – but Caterham Cars has also announced four bright and vibrant options – Blue Monday, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Green Light and Orange Crush.

Under the bonnet, the Sigma 1.6-litre revs for fun thanks to a lightened flywheel, while you’ll also find vented discs with red four-pot calipers and also wears a 620R nosecone with a ‘cup’ grille.

Moving inside and the cockpit features bespoke leather trimmed seats, embossed with the legend ‘Encore’ and a carbon-fibre dashboard. There have been plenty of limited edition Sevens over the last 52-years since Caterham Cars took over production of the Seven from Lotus, but I think this is going to be one of the most colectible of all.

Priced from £39,995 in kit form, with turnkeys available, while there is a raft of options to fully make a 310 Encore unique. Safe to say that no two will be the same. Think it and Caterham Cars can almost definitely offer it.

310 Encore is available to order now from appointed dealers in the UK, UAE and USA, but I’d get your skates on.
