A kitcar manufacturer based in Miami, Florida that I’ve always followed is DDR Motorsport, founded and run by Diego Grullón in 2001.

DDR Motorsport founder, Diego Grullón and his stunning Vera GT3
I was speaking with Diego this week and he was telling me that he has sold several of his kits to the UK and proudly told me that he has customers in five continents.
He has recently unveiled the company’s latest model the awesome Grullón Vera GT3. It has a three-seat, central driving position configuration and is powered by a GM 5.3-litre engine coupled to an automatic push-button transmission.
The interior is a sumptuous Alcantara and leather combo, three-piece split rims by Strasse wheels, carbon-fibre rear wing, Pirelli P-Zero tyres
Diego is happy to receive enquiries from UK-based customers and indeed, to discuss supplying a kit direct from the Miami factory, if you so wish, although there could be developments on that front quite soon.

Other models in the DDR Motorsport range are equally impressive:
GT8, based on Chevy Corvette C5 (1997-2004), GT8 SS Grand Prix based on Chevy Impala (2006-2009) and the GT4 Grand Prix based on Toyota MR2 Mk2. All kits are pretty comprehensive and cost $21,995 in the USA.
GT8 and GT8SS might struggle with donors in the UK as both of those models don’t grow on trees here but the GT4 wouldn’t be a problem with its MR2 base.
Diego has more than 25 years working with a selected group of racecar builders and race teams worldwide and a result has built a wealth of knowledge about performance cars, serial structures and forms; knowledge that would prove invaluable in his subsequent design and fabrication on real scale cars for DDR Motorsport.
The company was originally based in Diego’s homeland of the beautiful Dominican Republic before re-locating to Miami several years ago. Not a bad city in its own right, of course.
