Waxstock, Europe’s largest festival of all things car care, perhaps even the world, recently turned ten. It celebrated in grand style, opening its doors to approximately 4000 detailing devotees and some of the biggest names in the automotive cleaning game.

Despite being held in the expansive Coventry Arena, it was very much standing room only as guests piled in throughout the weekend to take in the rather aromatic atmosphere, chat to the experts behind their favourite brands and ogle at the clinically prepared show cars. As you might imagine, in a room full of their peers, the standards of preparation for the Top 16 showdown were off the charts, with the utterly flawless E39 AC Schnitzer taking a deserved top spot in a field of incredible machinery that demanded over 22 hours of combined judging to get the results. Talk about going into the detail of the detail!

As well as partaking of the fabulous deals on every stand, showgoers also invested their time in the hundreds of practical demos and masterclasses that were held over the weekend. With unlimited access to the world’s greatest detailers and car care experts, all of whom were there to share their hard-won techniques, tricks and product choices completely free of charge, much knowledge was passed on and learned. Expect to see an even higher standard of preparation during the rest of the UK show season from those that attended!

A regular hit at Waxstock, Kim’s Corner, saw Auto Express product tester Kim Adams selling all of his surplus test samples for charity. Raising £3000 for good causes in the process, this fixed feature of Waxstock gets more support from the names behind the scene every year, including show day additions by many contributing exhibitors.

With limited edition official Waxstock tenth Anniversary tins and, for the first time, Waxstock T-shirts exclusively created for the event on sale, kept collectors more than happy and with a few completists even able to add show guides and stickers from previous years to their collection, it proved to be the perfect weekend away. Plus, there are even a few official items still available on the Waxstock online store.

The weather-proof indoor formula proved to be the way forward once again and with manufacturers investing hugely in their presence and stand quality, the vibe and feel of the showroom felt like a large-scale US show, only with the vibe of a UK club meet. A very nice balance that made for an incredibly welcoming atmosphere.

Plans are already underfoot to make the 2024 event even bigger, brighter and better, so start applying that first layer of wax now. You might just have a chance of toppling that insanely clean Schnitzer!
