Monday’s feature was but eight miles from TKC/totalkitcar towers. However, I had to travel a bit further afield on Tuesday, about 150-miles further west, in fact and a journey to sunny Poole in Dorset.

Once upon that town would almost certainly have involved Ray Christopher’s GTD or in later years Lionel Gooch’s Super Stratos or Jon Ridd’s Gaia Cars, but those three have long since closed their doors, so on Tuesday I was in Poole for a visit to Tech Autos run by Dan Walsh.

A full and indepth feature on my visit and the activities of Dan, which primarily revolve around being the UK importer for American manufacturer, Factory Five Racing will be in the March/April issue of TKC Mag.

However, it was good to reacquaint myself with a car we originally tested way back in 2007. An FFR Roadster belonging to Ian Hunter – no, not that one! – who was an agent for FFR for a time. His car still looks cool and belies the 30,000 miles it’s covered since I last saw her.

I also got chance to take a look at FFR’s latest Roadster Mk4.5 and the package is an impressive one. Dan is currently building his demonstrator and he is very impressed with the quality of components supplied in the comprehensive kit package and also the way it goes together.

His enthusiasm for life is infectious as is the way he is marketing the FFR products here. He has already sold several kits and will also be marketing the company’s Coupe and 289 kits here, although he can obtain any of FFR’s ten model line-up as a special order for you.

He’s keen to talk to you about the FFR product and he’ll happily give you a tour of his workshop and the kit. Under the unstressed GRP body lies what is pretty much a `Ford Mustang’ and as I said, I was very impressed with what I saw on Tuesday.
