Keeping abreast of the changing fashions in the world of alloy wheels is a full-time job, so it’s no surprise that Wolfrace, a British success story and a stalwart of the industry since its creation way back in 1971, has a team of engineers dedicated to new and innovative designs.

The latest product to emerge from the Wolfrace ‘skunk works’ is the Aero, a ‘turbine style’ alloy that’s available in Wolfrace’s customary wide range of sizes, offsets, PCDs and finishes.

Part of Wolfrace’s well-regarded Eurosport portfolio, the Aero is dominated by its imposing spoke layout, with aggressive looking ‘vanes’ spiraling out from the centre to meet the outer edge. This is what imbues the wheel with its signature turbine appearance – it really isn’t a million miles from a turbo compressor wheel! As is this wasn’t enough, said spokes actually dip slightly as they meet the ‘hub’ of the wheel and creating a concave profile, an aspect that’s only exacerbated when the wheel is rotating. In fact, it’s no exaggeration to suggest that the Aero is one of those wheels that looks like it’s ‘doing the ton’ when completely stationary!

There’s another side to the Aero’s appearance, the two choices of finish available. A traditional Wolfrace strong suit, the Aero can be specified in either Satin Titanium with a polished face, or with Gloss Black with a polished face. Both the Titanium and Gloss treatments are applied to the inner edges of the spokes, and the contrast between this and the wheel face serve to further underline its width and road presence. All the finishes look suitably menacing and all have been developed to provide tough, long lasting protection for the alloy underneath.

Load rated 960kg, the Wolfrace Aero is suitable for fitment to a massive array of different vehicles, including commercial applications. This reflects the growing trend for modified or otherwise aftermarket styled vans, another sector that Wolfrace is proud to support in a big way. Car owners are equally well catered for, the full range of PCDs running to 5×100, 5×108, 5×112, 5×114.3, 5×120, and in 8.5×18, 8.5×20 sizes.

Quality, strength and style are par for the course when it comes to a Wolfrace product, but so too is value for money. Make no mistake, the Aero is a truly high end wheel that’s taken years to develop, yet a set of four will set you back a very reasonable £127.50 each. Even the largest, 8.5×20in size and most costly finish (Satin Black/polished face and undercut) costs £150 per corner. Prices include VAT.

There’s a lot to recommend the Wolfrace Aero, not least its stunning turbine appearance. It’s a timeless design that promises to look right at home on any car, while its turbine style promises to remain contemporary for years to come.
