My friends at Rhino Racing based in Lithuania and run by Vejas Pajarskas is ready to roll with their incredibly promising RR01 original design supercar that is available in fully built form, as well as in kit or rolling chassis forms.
The car is underpinned by a welded aluminium monocoque, with front and rear subframes and a built-in Chromoly roll-cage. The body is produced from GFRP. What now, I hear you exclaim?
GFRP and our familiar and beloved GRP are very similar. The ‘FRP’ version was, I think, promoted heavily in automotive use by BMW. The main difference is that GRP uses interlaced glass rovings and polyester resin, whereas GFRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer) uses continuous glass rovings and so offers considerable linear strength. GFRP also uses vinylester, phenolic or carbon-fibre hybrid resins.
The RR01 features double wishbones front and rear and a fully adjustable pushrod set-up featuring top of the line Intrax dampers (either the 1k2 or uprated 2K2 model), while braking is taken care of by AP Racing brakes (six-pots at the front)
Power comes from a mid-mounted Ford Coyote V8 engine or any of that family, in fact. Therefore, it starts at 480bhp and increases from there.
Power steering, harnesses, race-type seats, ABS and a safety crash structure are included in the standard specification but there are lots of options and upgrades available which means Hella LED lighting, adjustable carbon aero packages, carbon wheels and … well, you name it, really, meaning you can tailor a package to suit you.
With a minimum of 480bhp on tap the RR01 weighs around 1250kg, so offers a starting power-to-weight ratio of 600bhp per tonne.
So, pricing. A rolling chassis package (includes monocoque structure, rollcage, suspension components, GFRP body, standard aero, windscreen and other glazing in polycarbonate and also electro-hydraulic power steering), costs from €38,450.
A standard kit costs from €99,985 and what Rhino Racing describes as a Performance Spec kit costs €139,998, which adds many of the options as standard.
