GOODS & SUPPLIERS is ACTIVE AGAIN. It’s certainly less wieldy, is easier to use and well, see what you think. It’s not yet complete by any means, but is a workable and useful A-Z listing that I hope you enjoy using and check back regularly because I will be adding to it weekly, almost.

IF YOU LIKE CLASSIC KIT CARS & SPECIALS you are in luck. Clicking that button will take you back in time with features on old kitcars, personalities and generally interesting companies who worked within the specialist car and sixties motorsport movements. I really hope you are enjoying them. Not all of them are kitcar-related per se but they all celebrate the underdog and often feature the wonderful world of sixties motorsport.

Classic Kit Cars & Specials has a new home at totalkitcar.com.

A lot of classic clubman motorsport features highlight underdog artisans that we hope will appeal to you, dear reader, the sort of companies that we’ve often all heard of but on whom detailed information is often hard to find. Shorrock, Wade Turbochargers, Jack Knight Developments, Cannon Cars, Tom Killeen, David Ogle—the list goes on and on. The sort of companies and individuals that our specialist and kitcar forebears from the sixties would have been very familiar with. You’ll find these subjects featured in CLASSIC KIT CARS & SPECIALS.

This week in CLASSIC KIT CARS & SPECIALS we look at a criminally underrated genius called Ken Nichols, a purveyor of chassis and suspension know-how in the sixties. If your car work Ken’s parts and handiwork, it was guaranteed top work better. Lots of Lotus owners used his services while he also produced his own accomplished racing cars under the NIKE brand. CLICK HERE to go there.

THIS IS ALWAYS GREAT FESTIVE EVENT

SNIPPETS 1 ……..Playground Games and the British Motor Museum are hosting an event honouring the trailblazing women shaping the worlds of gaming and cars at ‘Women in Games & Gears’ on Sunday, 15 November. This event is specially designed for women aged 18 and over, and is dedicated to celebrating and inspiring women with a shared passion for gaming and automotive.

Over the course of the day, participants can enjoy engaging talks from inspirational women leading the way in gaming, automotive and motorsport, get exclusive insights into how the latest game in the Forza Horizon series was developed, and discover how an incredible team of women brought the exhibition Forza Horizon 6: The Experience to life. They can also show off their own talents as they compete for the fastest lap on the simulators, or unlock their creative side in the Design Lab.

Eventgoers will have the opportunity to meet Lia Block, who went from karting at 11 years old to making her mark in off-road, drifting, drag racing and rally. In 2023, she became the youngest and first female ARA rally champion, and recently became the first female driver to secure an ARA National win at the Ojibwe Forests Rally. Also attending is Tessa Whittock, who swapped the world of finance for life behind the wheel and has since built an illustrious career across professional drifting, motorsport and film stunt driving.

Her film credits include Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), Ballerina (2025) and The Running Man (2025). Participants can also meet Nicole Hume, an automotive and motorsport presenter best known as host of Talking Bull, the official Oracle Red Bull Racing podcast. She now hosts the Essential F1 Podcast and presents on Electrifying.com.

Rebekah Simpson, Chief of Staff at Playground Games, said: “Following the success of Forza Horizon 6: The Experience, we’re proud to partner with the British Motor Museum on our first of its kind event, Women in Games & Gears. This event is a unique opportunity to celebrate the talented women shaping gaming, automotive, engineering and motorsport while creating a space to share experiences, build connections and explore where their own interests could lead.”

Cat Boxall, Curator at the British Motor Museum, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our female visitors to meet world-class drivers, game developers and engineers and uncover the stories behind their success. They will hear from leading women in STEM as they share their career journeys, challenges and achievements, and gain insight into the exciting opportunities available across these innovative industries.”

Anyone attending the event is welcome to book a display ticket to show off their own car at a laidback meet as part of the event at no additional cost. Tickets include access to all talks, workshops and activities, refreshments and lunch, Museum admission and a guided tour. Early Bird prices are available until 31 October, with all tickets on sale for just £35. Places are limited, and tickets are expected to sell quickly. SNIPPETS 2 ……. Laser Tools has been celebrating its 50th anniversary by helping young people in the industry, with Schaeffler providing training assistance

To celebrate 50 years of Laser Tools, a long standing technical partner of Schaeffler in the UK, the businesses are once again teaming up to provide some essential training to students and apprentices.

Earlier in the year, Laser Tools gifted premium toolboxes to 50 apprentices to support them in their new career and, in the next phase of their 50th anniversary celebration, Laser Tools is inviting the same 50 apprentices to attend a day of training at their headquarters, with Schaeffler helping out by delivering an invaluable IMI approved session on double clutch system repairs.

Technical Services Manager, Alistair Mason, who will be conducting the training, said: “We’re more than happy to support Laser Tools in their anniversary year, using this major business milestone to invest directly into the future of our industry is a fantastic gesture, and it reflects the values that both Laser Tools and Schaeffler stand for.

“It’s important for the industry to help the younger generation, a cause which Schaeffler and Laser Tools have always been united in. For the last few years, we’ve been providing training to students and apprentices, with Laser Tools joining us on many occasions to provide support, so we’re more than happy to reciprocate.”

The joint training day underscores both companies’ ongoing commitment to bridging the skills gap in the automotive aftermarket and ensuring tomorrow’s technicians are equipped with the specialised knowledge required to repair modern vehicle systems.
