GOODS & SUPPLIERS is ACTIVE AGAIN. It’s certainly less wieldy, is easier to use and well, see what you think. It’s not yet complete by any means but is a workable and useful A-Z listing that I hope you enjoy using and check back regularly because I will be adding to it weekly, almost.

IF YOU LIKE CLASSIC KIT CARS & SPECIALS you are in luck. Clicking that button will take you back in time with features on old kitcars, personalities and generally interesting companies who worked within the specialist car and sixties motorsport movements. I really hope you are enjoying them. Not all of them are kitcar-related per se but they all celebrate the underdog and often feature the wonderful world of sixties motorsport.

Classic Kit Cars & Specials has a new home at totalkitcar.com.

A lot of classic clubman motorsport features highlight underdog artisans that we hope will appeal to you dear reader, the sort of companies that we’ve often all heard of but on whom detailed information is often hard to find. Shorrock, Wade Turbochargers, Jack Knight Developments, Cannon Cars, Tom Killeen, David Ogle the list goes on and on. The sort of companies and individuals that our specialist and kitcar forebears from the sixties would have been very familiar with. You’ll find these subjects featured in CLASSIC KIT CARS & SPECIALS.

UPDATED … UPDATED … UPDATED Our popular TRACKDAY CALENDAR is where you can find out where, when and how much by CLICKING HERE. Now updated to cover the remainder of OCTOBER, NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2026.

SNIPPETS 1 …….. Rev your engines, classic car enthusiasts! Great Northern Classics is thrilled to announce the next high-octane night in its sell-out ‘Evening With…’ series: An Audience with Richard Porter, the sharp-witted former Top Gear script editor, co-host of Smith & Sniff and author of some of motoring’s most readable books, hosted by the inimitable Paul Cowland.

Get ready to step behind the autocue and into the world of studio chaos, road-trip mischief and the stories that never made the final cut, as Richard Porter shares the tales that shaped two decades of British car television.

From the original Top Gear years through the Clarkson–Hammond–May era, to the dry, intelligent comedy of Smith & Sniff with Richard Hammond, Porter has written, observed and gently taken the mickey out of the motoring world like almost nobody else. This is your chance to hear it straight from the man whose scripts, books and podcasts have entertained hundreds of thousands of viewers and listeners.

Paul Cowland – Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars star, GNC ambassador and master of automotive storytelling – will steer the conversation, drawing out Richard’s best anecdotes, industry insights and laugh-out-loud moments in front of a live audience. Expect candid tales from the trade and the telly, secrets of the show, favourite cars and a night packed with the kind of dry humour anyone who has ever loved cars – and the people who make programmes about them – will recognise.

Event Highlights Include:

•        Doors open at 5:30pm for a relaxed arrival, with the café open for hot food and drinks and free on-site parking.

•        The main event runs through to 10:30pm, with an intimate, engaging Q&A and storytelling session hosted by Paul Cowland. An opportunity to meet Richard and Paul in person.

•        Limited tickets available – GNC’s previous “Evening With…” nights, including the sell-out evenings with Mike Brewer and Derek Mathewson, have gone quickly.

Richard Porter – Sniff Petrol founder (left) is next up to be interviewed by Paul Cowland at Great Northern Classics

Ticket Options:

•        Standard ticket: £25

•        Ticket with food package: £35 (includes a meal of your choice – the perfect fuel for a night of motoring stories!)

Whether you’re a die-hard Top Gear fan, a Smith & Sniff listener, a classic car restorer, or simply love great stories from the world of wheels, this is a must-attend night.

Come for the scripts, stay for the sniff, and leave buzzing with ideas and unforgettable memories.

SNIPPETS 2 …….With the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC rapidly approaching (November 13-15), this year the show organisers have challenged classic car club to bring even more cars to the show. As they say, this year ‘new’ means something slightly different!

A spokesman told me: “For 2026, we challenged our clbs to brings us cars that have never appeared at the Classic Motor Show before in addition to the 3000 classics filling seven halls.

“However, they’ve risen to the challenge and 2026 will see eight clubs – special cars making their debuts.

  • Honda NSX-R NA1, NSX Club – Honda’s supercar, stripped back, sharpened up and made considerably less civilised.
  • Lotus Esprit V8, Lotus Drivers Club – Wedge-shaped, twin-turbocharged and still capable of making a car park look like a film set.
  • 1973 Aston Martin AM Vantage, AstonOwners.com – British muscle in a Savile Row suit. Fast, elegant and properly imposing.
  • Hawk Shelby Cobra 289 Sebring, The 289 Register – A 289 Sebring-inspired Cobra homage. Light, loud and not remotely interested in understatement.
  • 1999 MGF Super Sports Concept, MG Car Club MGF Register – An MGF turned up to eleven. Bigger attitude, less subtlety.
  • Porsche 924S Le Mans, Porsche 924 Owners Club – A rare 924S special edition with motorsport flavour and just enough ’80s graphics to make the point.
  • Fiat Panda Italia 90, Young Retro Motor Club – A tiny Italian icon with football wheel trims. Because apparently normal hubcaps were too sensible.
  • 1970 MG Midget K-Series, MGs on Track – Small car, big engine transplant, very little interest in behaving like a standard Midget.
