SNIPPETS 1 ……..The Mini Moke first appeared in 1964 and although the latest official incarnation has been around for nearly 10 years, I’m not sure how many totalkitcar readers will be aware of their existence.

Although not a kit, we are all about specialist vehicles, however they are supplied, and the latest Moke fits our brief perfectly. If you want a petrol engine, you’ll be disappointed because they are 100 per cent electric.

Moke International is based in the UK, and I am almost certain that the new Mokes are made here, too. The cars weigh in at just under 800kg, with the 33kW battery pack taking up 97kg of that.

They have a claimed range of 54 miles, take four hours to fully charge at home, top out at 50mph and you can choose from nine standard colours. There are a few options that you can select although I’m pleased to see that the bimini top comes as standard. Prices start at around £31,000 and you can visit www.mokeinternational.com.

SNIPPETS 2 ……..While technicians, workshops and factors might focus on the traditional product groups for winter, which with a host of impressive brands, such as Invisible Glass, Simply Brands, EcoMotive, FRSH Scents and QUIXX, JRP can naturally support, the distribution company is also providing them some different ways to make additional profit this winter.

Tyres

One area that should be a focus all year round, but especially during winter when it gets dark quickly, is breakdown products, and among these, TyreFix from EcoMotive is one that should always be in a vehicle. TyreFix is a permanent gel-like tyre sealant that requires only a single application for the entire life of the tyre. This protective coating of the inner liners of the tyre is formulated to prevent flat tyres caused by punctures. It also extends tyre life by lowering operating temperatures and helping tyres to maintain set-point pressures by eliminating porosity air loss, and can be used on tubed, tubeless and run-flat tyres.

Batteries

Batteries are a common concern during colder months, so at the bare minimum, it’s recommended to keep a set of booster cables (jump leads) in the vehicle. However a more modern approach is to keep a ready charged jump starter. These can jump start a car directly from their built in battery, without the need for a donor vehicle. Simply Brands has a number of different power versions, right up to 1000A (large enough to start up to a 7L engine), but still small enough to keep out of sight in the vehicle’s glove compartment.

Lights

Simply Brands has an impressive range of bulbs that consists of 160 references. Simply Brands’ bulb offering includes performance, auxiliary, LED auxiliary, headlight, LED headlight and fog light bulbs. All bulbs are made to original equipment (OE) specification to ensure durability and reliability and are competitively priced.

Furthermore, as it’s getting dark earlier, it’s important to check the condition of headlight units. The headlight restoration kit from QUIXX was the first of its kind when it was launched and can effectively clean the surface that may have turned yellow due to sun, dirt or rain, all of which impact the amount of light that can get through it. The kit consists of a polish and sealer that quickly and permanently restores the units.

Windscreen

With winter comes rain, so wiper blades are a must in the upcoming months. Simply Brands has a competitively priced range consisting of both multi-fit flat blades and traditional conventional blades, which will cover the vast majority of the car parc.

The multi-fit flat blade offering will cover 98% of the car parc and consists of 15 SKUs with eight OE fit adaptors that cover the 10 most popular OE arm types. This will include a retro fit hook adaptor to upgrade older vehicles to the latest flat blade technology.

The conventional blade range has 11 SKUs in lengths 280mm – 700mm, and all are a metal vented frame design with a universal pre-attached adaptor to fit all hook wiper arms, as well as legacy side pin and 7mm bayonet wiper arms.

Alternatively, recently launched brand, SBxPRO, has a wiper blade range that comes as twin packs and consists of 110 SKUs that are direct OE replacements, covering more than 95% of the beam and hybrid car parc.

To further assist with visibility, Rain Repellent from Invisible Glass is a durable hydrophobic coating that ensures water doesn’t stick to the windscreen, helping drivers see better, stop sooner and drive safer in wet weather.

Scents

One consumable that’s usually an impulse purchase is an air freshener, yet it can be a great earner providing its location is prominent and the range available in store. FRSH recommends having a counter top display unit to encourage the impulse purchases and to switch up the stock depending on the season.
