TURBOCHARGED DYNAMIC HILLCLIMB!

September 13 marked the much anticipated return of the Marsh brothers to the renowned Gurston Hillclimb Course in Salisbury. Peter Marsh, who is the founder and MD of the Christchurch-based turbocharger specialists, Turbo Dynamics, and his brother Simon, are the sons of the late multi-discipline sportsman Tony Marsh.

Tony Marsh, who co-designed the Gurston Hillclimb Course in 1967, enjoyed a successful racing career, which spanned over five decades and included Formula 1 and Le Mans 24-Hours. His record six British Hillclimb Championship titles is an achievement that still remains intact today.

The recent Forge Action Day at Castle Combe may not have exactly broken its own mould in terms of show content, but when you factor in the impressive mix of track action, cool cars and aftermarket manufacturers, you could argue that following the old adage of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,’ was definitely a wise move for the event’s organising team.

This was the fifth year that Gloucestershire tuners Forge Motorsport has added their weight, ideas and industry friends to Castle Combe’s tried-and-tested Action Day format, and the result is a truly eclectic gathering that has become known for More >

PRIME NUMBER

Breaking-in a new or freshly rebuilt engine? You can help prime or pre-lube it with the Summit Racing Pre-Luber, which is easy to use and just connects to the engine block near the oil filter. Fill its tank with around 4.5-litres of oil and pressurise the tank with air.

The Pre-Luber is designed to get the oil flowing before start-up where most engine damage occurs when it’s cold and Summit says that it could help prolong the life of your engine and also make starting easier.

GLORIOUS DAYTONA REPLICA FROM HAWK

Latest addition to the Hawk Cars range is this glorious Daytona Coupe replica, a car that Hawk boss, Gerry Hawkridge, has always wanted to make and it, like the original, will be very much aimed at the track.

Body is handcrafted from aluminium and is pretty much nut-for-nut identical to the mid-sixties originals, including the tubular chassis, which like the body is a complete work of art.

Power comes from Ford small block V8, either 289 or 302ci and best not ask Gerry for Chevy or Rover fitments, unless you want short shrift! Gerry only wants to make these in very small More >

SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT LIMITED EDITION SEVEN

Caterham has revived the spirit of one of its most illustrious Sevens – the 1.6-litre Seven Superlight – with the launch of a new special edition model.

Just 20 of the special edition cars, ahead of the 20th anniversary of the original Superlight in 1996, will be built.

The original Superlight’s production run ceased in 2004, but it heralded a new era of purposeful, track-biased Sevens designed to offer even more performance and low weight at a pared down price point.

Despite its ultra-minimalist character – even for a Seven – the Superlight went on to become one of Caterham’s most coveted models, More >
