UP, UP AND AWAY…

Need a bit more leg-room in your classic, kitcar? Want a clearer view of the instruments?

B-G Racing’s new eccentric steering wheel spacer raises the steering wheel away from the driver to improve comfort and/or provide a clear line of sight to the instrument panel.

The spacer has two 3×50.8mm PCD bolt patterns offset by 10mm for extra clearance. It will also move the steering wheel out an extra 15mm towards the driver to allow taller drivers to lower their seat for better positioning without over-extending their reach to the wheel.

It’s the brainchild of Sir Torquil Norman of the Global Vehicle Trust who commissioned well-known designer Gordon Murray (he of McLaren F1 and iStream among much other illustrious stuff) to create a van that can be used in parts of the world where terrain makes access difficult.

GVT describes it as the ‘world’s first flat-pack van’ and although the word ‘kit’ isn’t mentioned the OX requires building (a 12-hour build is suggested) with a set of spanners and an Allen key.
