Had a little envelope arrive the other day that had some simply glorious gold-coloured Jubilee Clips inside and they were a kind gift from regular reader, Gary Sell.

Further checking revealed that Gary is part of a Bristol-based family run company called ORA Technologies and the clips he’d sent me were a small sample of what they offer their clients, including some real blue chippers, in terms of plating expertise. Turns out the items he’d sent me were plated in 24K gold on stainless steel…

This all got me thinking about how cool these would look on a blinged-up engine bay, of which this industry has thousands of – obviously they cost more but they are delightful and for those that want the very best the could be unbeatable and THE perfect finishing touch. ORA offer them (ALL stainless steell plated in 24K, remember) in the following sizes:

12mm (£6 each inc VAT plus P&P), 20mm (£6.50), 30mm (£8.50), 40mm (£10), 60mm (£12), 90mm (£15), 140mm (£22) and 200mm (£26). Actually there are 21 sizes available and ORA can help with most special size requests. Gary reckons that a typical kitcar engine bay could be decked out for around £75. Excellent value when you consider the quality on offer…

ORA plate in the following finishes:

18K gold – they did a grille for a Jaguar XK-R!)

24K gold – AGA cooker hoods are a speciality apparently!)

They can offer a fast and efficient service, with value at its heart and will happily talk to enthusiasts, owners clubs and kitcar manufacturers…
