A neat Australian body conversion…………………is now available in the UK. It’s called the AMX 07 and is based on Mazda MX-5 Mk1 and was created by Misha Lebedev.
Available here through Milton Keynes-based K Sports Cars, run by Jason Kemp the AMX Astonish (as it will be known here) converts the MX-5 to a car inspired by Aston Martin Vanquish and basically is a set of GRP panels for front and rear ends including boot and bonnet. All original Mazda panels simply unbolt from the chassis and the AMX Astonish replacements fitted in their place.
The kit costs £5900 and a 40 per cent deposit is required at the time of order.

One of the longest established kitcar manufacturers……..around is Autotune Rishton Ltd, who since 1984 (although the company has been established since 1969) has been producing the Aristocat range, while other models also available are the Gemini and Can-Am a replica of the McLaren M1C.
The company is still run by founders Anthony and Carolyn Taylor although they are assisted these days by their son, Richard, who gained a degree in Motorsport Engineering at university.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Gemini, which is a modern day interpretation of the Falcon from the early sixties, designed by Peter Pellandine, of course.

I was in the Chichester area the other afternoon………..and popped in to see Colin Farren MD of Jago Developments.
These days the company specialise in fibreglass of all sorts. Really diverse stuff from shop fronts to film sets to a statue of Aurora atop the Kings Theatre in Southsea.
Colin is one of the most enthusiastic people I have ever met and imbued with a real ‘can do’ spirit that means the company gets contracts from bluechip clients, because their work is first class. Incidentally, founder, Geoff Jago, is still a director of the company.
Inevitably, our chat over a cup of tea, turned to Jago Sandero, especially as out in the workshop I spied a neat-looking blue GRP set for said Sandero. Curious, I felt compelled to find out more. Colin explained that they are able to supply all the fibreglass parts for the vehicle and are happy to do so. Indeed, there’s a very detailed pricelist on their website at £910.63 inc VAT among a whole list of parts for your car and with around 2000 kits supplied there are still a lot on the road.

If you think things have been a bit quiet at sVc, think again………they have been busy testing lights to make sure the products they sell are up to sVc standards!
Dedicated Daytime Running Lights are special lamps, which are automatically switched on when the engine is started. From January 2011 all new passenger and light commercial vehicles will have to have Daytime Running Lamps fitted.
New to the sVc product range is the dual function LED Day and Night Lamp. These lamps are E marked to reg. 87 which is specific to daytime running lamps, so they illuminate when the engine is started. When used as a daytime running lamp, these lights will greatly contrast the vehicle from its surroundings making it more visible to other road users including cyclists and pedestrians, helping reduce accidents. However, when it gets dark and the main vehicle lights are turned on, these DRL / NRL lights will switch its light output to an E marked reg. 7 night time styling lamp brightness.
Measuring approx. 196mm by 22mm, the slim compact design enables the lamps to be fitted discreetly to most cars. With a fitting kit and simple to follow instruction the lamps can generally be fitted within an hour depending on the vehicle. Each lamp unit contains 18 ice white LEDs for ! maximum light output from minimal energy consumption. Best news of all is that only cost £64.58 per set inc VAT.

Florida-based…………..Titan Motorsports is now offering the new, Precision PW46 Wastegate.
These units feature a 46mm valve, and can be used in a wide variety of applications.
They can be used in any kit or set-up that currently utilises a v-band style 44mm gate, but will work best with the supplied inlet flange.
The wastegates are shipped with all the necessary hardware (flanges, clamps, springs, etc), and can accommodate a wide range of boost pressures (anywhere from 1.5PSI up to 25.5PSI).
All units feature a black, anodised wastegate cap, and a KevlarÒ-reinforced silicone diaphragm. In addition, the unit features a five angle valve arrangement, as well as high temp 17-7 ph springs.
Finally, the PW46 is set up for a 1¾in pipe on the discharge side, and a 1⅞in pipe on the inlet.
