In addition to being one of the UK’s leading experts……….on bike engines and their tuning, Andy Bates of AB Performance has been working on his own track-inspired car.

We’ve got a sneek look at the work in progress for you this week. Quality will be aces high as you'd expect, while prices we're told although yet to be finalised will be very affordable. Sounds like a very good one...

More information from www.abperformance.co.uk or 01449 736 633 ENDS.

Sneek peek of the new mew model under development by AB Performance...

There’s quite a few quick-release steering bosses………around although many don’t exactly set the world on fire when it comes to ease of putting on or releasing, which kind of defeats the object.

One such item that does exactly as it says on the tin comes from Playskool Motorsport run by 2009 British Sprint Champion, Nick Algar, and this beautifully made boss costs just £150.

More from www.plays-kool.co.uk or 0845 680 6812 ENDS.

A good 2009 for Marlin Cars……………saw the Devon-based company receive a steady stream of orders for their 5EXi and Sportster models and they are currently finding the time to build a new Sportster demonstrator.

A very under-rated model, the car is based on BMW E30/E36 mechanicals with the latter version proving extremely popular with some customers opting for the full ‘hit’ M3-based variant, much like Marlin’s own former demo car that delivered a cool 343bhp and could seemingly spin its rear wheels on demand in any gear.

Sportster kit prices start from £2099 inc VAT with a budget build possible from around £5500, amazing value, indeed.

Tim Dutton is entering his.......................42nd year of continuous vehicle production in 2010 and quite a lot is happening at his Littlehampton-based operation.

A recent Channel4 TV survey saw the Dutton Commander (now entering its 22nd year of production) voted 53rd greatest British car while the latest Amphijeep appeared on BBC TV over the Christmas period alongside Dara Ó Briain, Rory McGrath and Griff Rhys-Jones on Three Men And A Boat.

Oh and if that wasn’t enough, Dutton has re-launched North American-spec Amhijeeps based on Suzuki Samurai rather than the UK’s Jimny, which was never sold there.

Don’t Be A Dipstick.........check Your Oil With Richbrook.

Richbrook’s somewhat self-explanatory Dipstick Wiper might just solve a perennial automotive problem. Every single year, literally millions of engines fail due to the wholly avoidable problem of lack of oil. We all know that we should check it, but faffing around looking for a rag to wipe the dipstick is often discouragement enough for us to wait until the oil light comes on to tell us that something’s wrong. Whooops! Especially on a bike engine. If you see the light, it’s too late, you’ve lunched it.

Keeping an oily rag in the car isn’t too pleasant either. Under the bonnet it might get sucked into the air intake or fan, or worse still get hot and catch fire.

The Dipstick Wiper, as well as being the source of numerous double-entendres and ‘Only Fools and Horses’ gags around the Richbrook offices, offers a neat self-contained solution to this simple, but vitally important problem.

Simply turn the top to reveal an absorbent foam aperture. Slide the oily dipstick through to fully clean it and then take a clear and accurate reading from the sump. Easy as that. Turn the top to close and any oily residue is kept safely inside, meaning that it can reside anywhere, from your trouser pocket - to your glovebox or toolkit. True ergonomiscists can even use the enclosed 3M adhesive pad to affix the ‘Rodney’ (as it’s known!) to a suitable place in the engine bay, meaning that a handy, clean wipe – and possibly a hilarious pun – is always within easy reach.

At just £2.95 inc VAT, postage and packing from www.richbrook.co.uk, it’s the cheapest way to ensure that your engine is in tip-top order. You’d be a plonker not to, Rodney!

Any interior or exterior surface can be treated to create a long lasting barrier against dirt, ozone and ultraviolet damage. Also helps guard against ozone and ultraviolet damage.

Then of course, it’s time to hit the on-site bar, enjoy an evening of free musical entertainment and sink a few beers. With free weekend camping for anyone purchasing a weekend admission ticket (£20 on the gate or just £15 in advance) you can really relax and enjoy yourself – and blow the froth off a  couple in the process.

The gates open on Saturday at 8am. Most of us are deeply suspicious of any sort of ‘additive’……..and the incredible claims made by the manufacturers, so let’s get one thing clear from the start...

Torco Diesel Accelerator is not just another fuel additive; it’s simply a High Cetane Diesel Race Fuel Concentrate! It increases the Cetane rating of diesel fuel by up to 10 points, making it produce more power and torque.

Naturally a reputable company like Torco wouldn’t bring a product to the market unless it had been throughly tested and proven. Torco Diesel Accelerator is perfect for modified or stock diesel engines. It is safe for sensors and although it’s branded as a RACE fuel concentrate, it’s completely road legal and can be used in your daily driver.

It will also improve fuel lubricity (Torco are, after all, an oil company) and, because it makes the engine more efficient it will contribute to better fuel economy.

Priced at £18.26 inc VAT you can order from www.nimbusmotorsport.com or by calling 01377 236 170 ENDS.

Webcon are delighted to announce…………the release of a triple Weber DCNF kit to suit the Ford Essex V6 engine of which many are still in use in kitcar applications.

Originally released in the seventies for the Capri X Pack, production was halted when Weber ceased production of the 42DCNF carburettor, however Webcon has now re-engineered the kit to use the reintroduced 40DCNF carburettors.

The carbs are supplied with a base jetting and can be recalibrated by a Weber specialist to accommodate almost any stage of engine tune.

Kit part number PFO301 is supplied assembled as shown, and is priced at £2344.13 inc VAT and Webcon recommend the use of fuel pump WFP502 with this kit.

More information from 01932 787 100 or www.webcon.co.uk ENDS.

Oil control can be a problem……………with high performance and free-revving Subaru engines.

High crankcase pressure along with the horizontal engine platform restricts rapid oil return from the cylinder heads to the oil pan. Pressure builds in the heads and crankcase causing massive blow by and power loss.

The Cosworth Subaru Oil Pan Baffle has been engineered with diverters to control oil returning from the cylinder heads to the pan directing it away from the crankshaft.

Additionally, one-way valves prevent oil from re-entering the upper crankcase chamber thereby limiting blow-by and preventing oil starvation during hard driving.

The baffle is manufactured from stainless steel and installs easily between the block and oil pan on both EJ20/EJ25 series engines. It can be used with the Cosworth High Volume Oil pan for maximum oil control.

The Cosworth Subaru Oil Pan Baffle is available from Cosworth appointed dealers worldwide with a recommended retail price £189.90 inc VAT

To find your local Cosworth appointed dealer call 01604 598 300 or visit www.cosworth.com ENDS.

With 240bhp available from just 1997cc…….the F20C VTEC engine in the Honda S2000 sportscar is rightly regarded as one of the finest powerplants ever produced.

Even so, as leading Japanese tuning house TODA Racing has frequently shown, the F20C provides scope for considerable performance enhancement for enthusiasts.

With this in mind, TODA Racing is pleased to announce its latest product for the S2000 – an ultra lightweight crank pulley kit for the F20C engine as used in UK and European models, which gains up to 8bhp, according to dyno testing.

Designed to reduce engine inertia and improve the acceleration response of the F20C engine the F20C lightweight pulley kit features three pulleys produced from a high quality, low weight aluminium alloy and anodised in a distinctive red finish (black, blue or gold finishes are available from TODA as a cost option).

Two versions of the TODA Racing lightweight crank pulley kit are available, covering both air conditioning equipped and non-a/c equipped versions of the Honda S2000.

A specially shortened timing belt is provided for the non-a/c version of the kit, while the a/c version uses a standard Honda belt.

TODA Racing has used the same hexagon socket design on the lightweight crank pulley to ensure that the OE Honda tool can be used pulley installation and removal.

Developed, tested and proven to the high quality levels expected by TODA Racing’s technicians, the new Honda S2000 F20C ultra lightweight alloy pulley kit is available now exclusively from TODA Europe, a division of Torque Developments International PLC, with two different part numbers and prices:

Part No: 13810 – F20 - HAC

TODA Racing Honda S2000 F20C ultra lightweight alloy pulley kit for a/c equipped cars, priced at £621.00 inc VAT.

Part No: 13810 – F20 – HOO
