Wheel Guard……….is a product from SP Autopia and is not a wax, but is a tough, crystal clear protective coating that uses Everbrite coating technology to protect aluminium, chrome and alloy wheels from corrosion and oxidation. It also seals and protects stainless steel and anodised aluminium. Wheel Guard is a one-part, self-levelling coating that is easy to apply and durable enough to keep your wheels looking great, even if you drive through corrosive road salts in winter.
Wheel Guard isn't thick or plastic-looking but makes metal appear freshly polished. Application, removal for re-application and re-coating (Wheel Guard blends to itself) couldn't be more straightforward. Full instructions can be downloaded below.
Brake dust is highly corrosive, can permanently damage the finish of your wheels and is the single most destructive contaminant that plagues vehicle wheels. Brake dust is a fine powder residue created by the brake disk wearing away at the brake pads/lining. The pads contain carbon fibres, metal filings and an acidic adhesive. It is very sticky and collects in every nook and cranny of the wheel. If allowed to sit on wheels, brake dust can pit the metal and leave gummy deposits that are hard to remove.
A 60ml tub costs £19.99 and more information is available from www.spautopia.co.uk or 01780 721 460 ENDS.
ZircoFlex, the new flexible ceramic coating from Zircotec………will be on display at the Autosport Engineering Show, stand E753, with the company also introducing its latest colour finish
Motorsport professionals attending this year’s Autosport Engineering Show at the Birmingham NEC will be able to view Zircotec’s new flexible ceramic coating, ZircoFlex™, at their show stand E753, and hear about its strong potential for use in motorsport applications. The company’s new lightweight heat shield, ZircoFlex, is thought to be the first of its kind and has been proven to reduce surface temperatures by up to 64 per cent.
“Since launching ZircoFlex we have received interest from teams and individuals throughout the motorsport industry, from Formula One teams to race car owners and enthusiasts,” comments sales and marketing director, Peter Whyman. “We'll also be continuing our support of the HSCC Historic Road Sports Championship in 2010, bringing ZircoFlex directly to the track as we offer help and advice on thermal management to drivers and owners. ZircoFlex offers a robust and durable solution for the thermal protection of vital engine and electronic components and can be easily applied to a wide range of materials and substrates, including titanium, aluminium and carbon fibre. It also offers performance and efficiency gains as well as allowing weight savings and reducing in-cabin temperatures.”
Typical applications for ZircoFlex include protection of engine bay components, reduction of heat soak through footwells and bulkheads and protection of bodywork, fuel tanks, electrical systems and batteries, as well as thermal insulation of silencer units. Lightweight at only 460g/m2 and only 0.25mm thick, it is supplied as a roll of thin aluminium-backed foil and can be cut and installed by hand or machine, and fixed in place using mechanical fasteners or high temperature adhesives.
The company has also recently added ‘Alaskan Blue’ to its range of ‘Performance Colours’ coatings. The multi-layer ceramic paint finish is applied as a lightweight layer over Zircotec’s proven ThermoHold® ceramic coating in a choice of colours including red, green, blue, yellow, black, gold and silver. These coatings are designed to offer the ultimate in thermal barrier performance while also providing an attractive and durable finish that is easy to maintain. The new Alaskan Blue colour will also be on display at the Turbo Dynamics stand.
“Additionally, visitors to the stand will be able to view for the first time a visual representation of all the components to which Zircotec coatings can be applied, as shown on a GT1 car. This new diagram demonstrating the increasing number of uses for our ceramic coatings should be of great benefit to motorsport professionals looking to understand quickly where our coatings can make a difference,” continues Whyman.
Zircotec will be displaying its full range of plasma-sprayed ceramic coatings in Hall 9, stand E753, including ZircoFlex and the ThermoHold-based ‘Performance White’ and ‘Performance Colours’ range. Zircotec coatings will also be on display at the Turbo Dynamics and Torque Developments International stands (stand numbers 7510 and 19170). Specialists from Zircotec will be on hand to discuss the products’ suitability for different racecars.
ZircoFlex can be purchased online via www.zircotec.com at a unit price of £81.90 inc VAT per 55cm x 90cm sheet. ENDS.

Quaife Engineering arrives at Autosport International 2010 having enjoyed a buoyant year in 2009, thanks to a number of ongoing success stories in both motorsport and OEM markets.
For 2010 Quaife has opted to showcase its products in the Autosport Engineering section of ASI, where it is delighted to announce a number of exciting new additions to its vast portfolio of transmission products.
Quaife’s most important new launch at ASI 2010 is the QBE69G heavy duty, in-line six speed sequential gearbox, which is designed to suit the higher torque and power output requirements of endurance racing customers on both sides of the Atlantic.
