Former TVR test driver………………Mike Mooney, has announced a range of continuation Griffith models. Not the recent one, but the sixties model based on the Grantura and inspired by TVR’s American dealer, Andrew 'Jack' Griffith, available between 1964-67, powered by Ford 289 V8 and intended as a Cobra rival.

Although only 261 were built the Griff is a revered car although hot and cramped, although the big V8 gave it fierce grunt. A US dock strike put paid to the project, sadly.

The continuation model will be called the G2 and will be available in kit form, with Ford 302 the preferred engine implant. Short (85½in) and long (90in) wheelbases will be available as will a convertible, while in addition to being TVR’s test driver in the sixties, Mooney also wrote a book on the Griffith called ‘The Griffith Years’.

Superchargers are finding real popularity……….with the kitcar fraternity at the moment, thanks in part to the staggering improvements in power they provide and also to the efforts of the likes of Raw Striker UK, Omex and TTS Performance.

Indeed, TTS has just announced a new conversion for the Honda S2000 F20A engine, in standard guise the most powerful normally-aspirated 2-litre engine in the world. The new front-mounted package puts the ‘charger low-down in place of the air-con pump, ideal for kitcar applications, resulting in a very compact installation.

The TTS Rotrex kit comes in a choice of three stages:

Stage 1 uses the Rotrex C30-74 supercharger ups power to circa 310bhp and 0-100mph time of approximately 12-seconds.

Stage 2 uses the Rotrex C30-94 supercharger with power upped to circa 400bhp and a 0-100mph time of 10-seconds.

Stage 3 uses the Rotrex C38-81 supercharger with AEM water/Methanol injection and gives around 500bhp, with 0-100mph in a cool 8.5-seconds!

Prices for stages 1 and 2 kits are £3290 inc VAT with engine management packages starting at £350 plus £800 fitting and dyno set-up.

Meanwhile, stage 3 comes in at £3877.50 inc VAT and the AEM kit, with a recommended engine management choice between Hondata K-Pro or an AEM unit.

Not a directly relevant kitcar news item……..BUT diesels are coming to this industry AND we know that a lot of our readers drive a diesel daily driver.

Agriemach has just introduced a new in-line diesel cleaning system to their extensive range of engine protection products.

DE-BUG as it is known, is fitted into the diesel fuel line before the main fuel filter. As the diesel and contaminants pass through the patented magnetic structure, a flux-field is created that destroys the bacteria and sludge contaminants, which are broken down into such fine particles that they pass freely through the main fuel filter, pump and injectors and are burned up during the combustion process.

DE-BUG is encased in LM6 marine grade anti-corrosive aluminium alloy, which incorporates a purpose designed drain bowl, which catches inorganic materials and water before they reach the filter, further extending filter service life.

This bacteria then multiplies at an exponential rate, which creates the sludge that is found in most diesel tanks.
