If your chassis needs spraying………………….but you don't fancy wielding a paintbrush for hours, help is at hand from Bosch Power Tools with the latest additions to its Fine Spray Gun range.
The new Bosch PFS guns create brilliant coats of paint on smooth or heavily textured surfaces alike - three times faster than a paintbrush!
They work with low-pressure 'SprayControl Technology' where an air jacket accurately focuses the paint mist when spraying so that you use up to 15 percent less paint. Plus, the air jet speeds up the drying process so a second coat can be instantly applied.
The new Bosch PFS 55 is a hand-held system for small to medium spraying tasks, such as furniture or modelling projects. The integrated paint flow control can be set using the infinitely variable wheel in the switch. It is also perfectly suited for spraying pesticides on plants.
The Bosch PFS 105E is ideal for spraying large outdoor surfaces as well as rooms inside. It's a flexible, mobile system with electronic airflow - allowing you to control the paint mist to suit the type of material being used. The lightweight spray gun and 3.4-metre air hose allow work from different angles, and the base unit with wheels has a sophisticated storage system for the air hose.
Completing the spray gun range is the PFS 65, which became available for the first time this summer. This is a compact, portable system perfect for medium-sized projects such as larger pieces of furniture, garden fences or sheds. The low weight of its spray gun and the flexible air hose allow for easy working, even in awkward positions or overhead. When the work is done, the hose is conveniently stored in the base unit.
The spray guns are simple to use. All the parts used to guide the paint are fitted with the tool-free 'SDS principle', allowing for easy paint changes. When work is interrupted, simply put the spray gun down in the 'parked' position.
Materials with thin viscosity such as varnishes, wood preservatives, pesticides, stains, oils or primers are applied undiluted. With acrylic or gloss paints, dilute in 10 percent steps and perform spray tests until a consistent paint pattern is produced (you usually only need to dilute once).
Paint tanks of either 600ml or 800ml are available for spraying surfaces of different sizes.
The Bosch PFS system is quickly cleaned. All you have to do is spray repeatedly with water or solvent until clear liquid flows out. Then clean the individual parts separately. The new Fine Spray Guns are also quieter than the so-called airless spray systems.
The Bosch PFS 55, 65 and 105E will be available at B&Q from mid-October 2008. Their recommended retail prices are £59.99, £99.99 and £139.99 respectively, inc VAT. For further information call 08447 360 107.
They come with a free DVD containing tips on how to use the individual systems. More from www.bosch-pt.co.uk ENDS.

‘Home improvement’ has become a national obsession………but as it becomes increasingly difficult to make money from property, homeowners need to consider the real value of the work they do, before they start knocking down walls.
As unlikely as it sounds, garages are the new kitchens. And why not? In this foodie age, many think it’s acceptable to spend tens of thousands of pounds on a hand-built kitchen - only for the interiors magazines to deem their designer units obsolete within the lifespan of a j-cloth. Oak-frame garages from English Heritage Buildings on the other hand, are light-filled timeless structures which combine beautifully with period properties or add instant character to modern houses.
As testament to this, many garages from English Heritage Buildings are built to designs that can be traced back to 16th century cart sheds. These stunning, bespoke buildings are far removed from the suburban asbestos monstrosities with up-and-over doors, which although popular in the 1970s, are less likely to be replicated in another 500 years.
Besides adding immense curb appeal, bespoke garages from English Heritage Buildings can provide useful additional living space or even an upper floor for a studio or annex. The design options are almost limitless; would sir like a games room above, solid oak beams and antique tiles?
According to estate agents, a garage is the part of a house that adds most value. A survey to assess the impact of home renovation projects on house prices and saleability conducted by Spicerhaart, (the independent network of estate agents) concluded that extra space results in extra cash and that parking and garage space are buyers’ top requests.
"A good garage can add hundreds of thousands of pounds to a house's value" says Will Peppitt, a director of estate agent, Savills. "The potential for secondary accommodation can make all the difference, particularly if mother-in-law is putting up some of the purchase money."
The reasons for the increasing demand for garages are simple: increasing levels of car crime and lack of parking spaces. Being able to secure your car in a garage gives peace of mind, lowers car and contents insurance, and boosts the value of your home. In addition it may simply not be possible to park in the street. Congestion charging may have reduced city centre traffic but drivers often park in suburbs, which can exacerbate the problem.
As a result, garage space is at a premium. Garages in central London add £60,000 - £100,000 to a flat or house price, with many owners now opting to sell them separately.
While kitchen units house cutlery and bottles of ketchup, garages care for our most valuable possessions. Investing in a hard roof for the soft top makes sense, too often thousands of pounds' worth of precious metal is left rusting in the road.

Electric vehicle charging posts…………installed at EDF Energy sites in Hove and Worthing
An electric vehicle charging bay has been installed at each of EDF Energy’s Hove and Worthing sites through the company’s partnership with Brighton-based Elektromotive, the UK’s leading zero-emissions transport infrastructure provider. These ‘Elektrobays’ will facilitate the company’s use of low-carbon emitting vehicles, including the new smart ed (electric drive) and the Toyota Plug In-Hybrid.
The two-seater smart ed, which is a fully fledged electric car, has not gone on sale to the public yet. However, three of these vehicles have been made available to EDF Energy as part of a trial. One of these new vehicles will be based at Hove for up to 18 months to be used as a pool car by employees for the 16-mile return journey between EDF Energy’s Hove and Worthing sites.
The smart ed has a top speed of 65mph, a range of between 50-70 miles between recharges and compared to a normal combustion engine, emits no CO2 or other greenhouse gases. EDF Energy’s participation in the UK trial of the smart ed will help to shape how its manufacturer's, Mercedes-Benz, develop them in the future. When the charging posts are not in use by the smart electric pool car, they will be available to use by EDF Energy employees to charge their own electric vehicles.
EDF Energy has so far helped roll out more than 40 charging posts across the country. These Elektrobays will also assist EDF Energy’s partnership with Toyota to road trial the first Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHV) introduced by a car manufacturer to the UK. The trial builds on the first European PHV testing programme launched by Toyota and EDF on French roads in September 2007. The UK partnership is designed to evaluate vehicle performance within an urban environment, vehicle infrastructure requirements, and driver behaviours and expectations.
Michael Dyke, EDF Energy’s MD, customer services, who is based in Hove, said: "I am delighted that these Elektrobays have been installed at our sites in Hove and Worthing so staff can travel between the sites via the electric vehicle. We want our staff to be as fully engaged as possible in ensuring EDF Energy is a truly sustainable business. Incorporating these vehicles into our fleet complements our innovative work in this area."
“It is part of our ongoing efforts to make clean electric transport more accessible not only to our staff but to everyone. EDF Energy and Elektromotive are involved in the development of a UK wide recharging infrastructure for electric vehicles. We firmly believe that by making recharging posts readily available, there will be greater interest in electrical transport, which in turn will help people reduce the impact their driving has on the environment.”
By opening up the charging posts at their sites to employee use, the company is actively encouraging its employees to think carefully about using greener modes of transport, and providing them with the infrastructure to do so. It supports EDF Energy’s ‘Climate Commitments’, the biggest package of environmental initiatives announced by major UK energy company, in which they have committed to cutting CO2 emissions from transport by 20 percent by 2012 ENDS.
