Regular readers will know that the enthusiastic and booming guys and gals from the Irish Kit Car Club staged their first Round Ireland tour in 2006 and the story of that week long hoot can be found in our July/August 2006 issue of totalkitcar magazine (back issues from 01883 372 085), and the tour basically ran from Waterford around the bottom of Ireland and up into the glorious west ending up in a booze fuelled evening in Donegal town.
Well, this year, it was decided that the club would start in Donegal and literally complete the trek by taking in the other half of the country, spending a couple of days in Northern Ireland hooked up with the Ulster Kit Car Club while doing so (Ken’s AK is a stunner).
It goes without saying that it was a superb week again and the craic and the company was great, while Carol and I left the GTM Spyder at home and did the run in a PGO Cévennes, which coped admirably with the testing terrain and mileage. Here’s a run down of this year’s route…
DAY ONE: Mullingar, County Westmeath – to Donegal
DAY TWO: Donegal - Portballintrae, Northern Ireland
DAY THREE: Portballintrae – Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland
DAY FOUR: Carrickfergus – Dundalk
DAY FIVE: Dundalk – Tallaght, County Dublin
Apart from saying a BIG thank you to the Irish Kit Car Club, Ulster Kit Car Club and Stenaline, we’ll leave you to get with enjoying some images from a beautiful country…
