EAGLES!

The ‘Eagle’ steering wheel from MOMO takes its styling cue from aircraft controls with sculpted finger and thumb mouldings on the rim for maximum comfort and balance.

The wheel is 350mm at its widest but has a flat lower rim for increased leg room, and easier entry and exit.

The MOMO ‘Eagle’ steering wheel features a full leather rim with perforated leather top and inner rim and two MOMO logos. One on the horn push and one engraved on the spokes – after all you can’t have too much of a good thing!

WATERLESS A-SERIES

Mini Spares is now offering Evans Waterless Engine Coolant for classic engines.

The product will improve cooling performance, reliability and will reduce corrosion and we’ve used it very successfully on our workhorse BMW X5 for over a year now.

For performance engines they have Power Cool waterless engine coolant, which is similar to the Classic Cool product but offers increased protection for race engines and units with aluminium cylinder heads such as the Mini Spares eight-port.

Like Classic Cool it improves cooling performance, reliability and reduces corrosion. EVANS003 prep fluid must be used beforehand.

Prep fluid (2-litre) retails at £29.96 inc VAT, Classic Cool More >

WE GOT WAX AND IT’S IN STOCK

Waxstock, the UK’s specialist car care and detailing show – arguably the largest show of its type in the world – returns to Peterborough Arena on Sunday, July 7, 2013 and according to the organisers, it’s going to be even bigger and better than the inaugural event in 2012, with more hall-space, more features and more exhibitors.

Organised by Detailing World, Zaino Europe and Dodo Juice, the event has attracted sponsorship in 2013 from Farecla (G3 Professional range), Scholl Concepts and the Pro Valeters and Detailers association. Over 2000 enthusiast visitors will be expected at the one day show, with some More >

FASTER? IT’S RAPIDE

The Calibre Rapide follows a long tradition of timelessly elegant multi-spoke wheels. Designed to shamelessly look like a much more expensive wheel than it is, the Rapide balances ‘big ticket’ looks with a price-point that is well within the reach of the average enthusiast.

The beauty of a well-designed multi-spoke is, of course, that it suits almost any and every genre of car. Equally at home on anything from a humble super-mini, right through to an executive saloon, Calibre’s designers have taken heed of this, making the Rapide available in a wide range of sizes and staggered widths to ensure that More >

POCKET MONEY HYPERCAR?

Been out this week at Blyton Park testing the superb Road Track Race MEVabusa, which managed to stun me with its sheer performance ability.

Blyton’s billiard table smooth 1.7-mile circuit was the perfect venue to test the 560kg exo-skeletal car with, as the name suggests, a Suzuki GSX-R1300 Hayabusa power that delivers around 180bhp.

Luckily, despite monsoon conditions either side of our test the weather remained dry, which was handy given the performance on tap. With a kit priced at £6000 inc VAT this means that a decent DIY build can be completed from around £12,000, which from what I experienced makes More >

CATERHAM’S CHESHIRE TIME ATTACK

After taking the honours last year, Caterham aims to defend its lap record at the 2013 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (14-16 June) with its SP/300.R.

This year, a quartet of British sportscar manufacturers will go head-to-head, with four distinct vehicles in an attempt to better last year’s record run.

With a best time of 61.89 seconds on the narrow circuit in 2012, Caterham’s spectacular sports prototype racer will compete against exotic supercars and specialist track-day vehicles.

Caterham Drive Experience instructor, Scott Mansell, will once again take the wheel of the SP/300.R for the event.

The racer will join supercars, classic and modern race cars, More >

A company that has impressed me greatly with the parts they supply is West Yorkshire-based Danst Engineering, run by Dan Standley, and they offer great solutions at value for money prices.

WAXING LYRICAL

New from Wax Tailor and part of their Yorkshire Gold range is Liquid Gold Wax Cleaner that I tried on the notoriously difficult to clean well black Mica paint on my Audi, a surface that is a genuinely good gauge of a polish’s ability with many so-called market leaders not cutting it (literally!).

Some struggle to remove swirl marks on it, but this one did a pleasingly good job, and it seemed to give a deep lustre that enhanced the colour and shine, fully bringing out the glitter-effect in the paint. During this week’s heavy rain I noticed that water on More >

IT’S NOT LIMITED AND IT WON’T SLIP

Now available from 3J Driveline, is their NXG English limited slip differential, which they claim is the most progressive and versatile LSD unit in the market-place.

The 3J plate pack runs with eight active surfaces, even in lighter settings, giving maximum surface contact area during use. The 3J pre-load spacer helps dissipate loadings. Rather than just have two or three settings this unit can be ‘fine-tuned’ to particular pre-load settings with a choice of ramps.

The bevel and planet gear pack has been designed to smooth, strong and eliminating the rattle and excessive back lash that can occur. Dual Ramps available are 30/90, More >

TAPERED PERFORMANCE

For many years classic Porsche, air-cooled Beetle and American V8 owners have been using Weber downdraft IDA carburettors to improve the performance of their engines.

Now Jenvey has launched a throttle body designed to replace the IDA carburettor to facilitate a conversion to EFi. Most noticeable is the bore spacing of these throttle bodies. Most Weber carbs have a bore spacing of 90mm but the IDA/TA has a larger one of 120mm.

Jenvey’s TAP48i also has a bore spacing of 120mm making them suitable for classic Beetle and Bus four cylinder engines and 289 Cobras and 427 big block engines.

In fact they More >
