GD427 passes Australian Design Rules Test with flying colours. In order for any vehicle to be granted road-legal status in Australia, it must pass a series of tests, just like those of the IVA.

The Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are national Australian standards for vehicle safety, anti-theft and emission standards. They have been acclaimed as less arbitrary than those of other countries, and are said to have successfully prevented the importation of many dangerous imports over the years.

NEW AC AT GOODWOOD

The new AC 378 GT Zagato, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, will get its UK preview at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend (June 29-July 1).

Among the exhibitors at Newark last weekend was KA experts and general Ford tuners and transplant specialists, Fenspeed, based in Peterborough.

Displayed on their stand, alongside a couple of their project cars, was a Lotus Seven-inspired sportscar that at first casual glance seemed to be a Locost, however, more in-depth inspection and a few questions to Gary Downes of Fenspeed revealed that Newark marked the launch of the Fenspeed Sprint, featuring a round-tube, TIG-welded and laser-cut spaceframe chassis, aluminium body and GRP nosecone and wings.

Caterham’s 300bhp SP/300.R took on allcomers and delivered the fastest lap for a car during the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, the annual show held in the grounds of Cholmondeley Castle, last weekend.

A collection of the world’s most expensive and fastest supercars, including models from Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and the Ariel Atom V8 500, competed head-to-head in various classes during the three day event, which also featured fully-fledged race cars and classic Formula 1 vehicles.
