‘FEN’ STREET GANG!

Among the exhibitors at Newark last weekend was KA experts and general Ford tuners and transplant specialists, Fenspeed, based in Peterborough.

Displayed on their stand, alongside a couple of their project cars, was a Lotus Seven-inspired sportscar that at first casual glance seemed to be a Locost, however, more in-depth inspection and a few questions to Gary Downes of Fenspeed revealed that Newark marked the launch of the Fenspeed Sprint, featuring a round-tube, TIG-welded and laser-cut spaceframe chassis, aluminium body and GRP nosecone and wings.

Although the prototype had a Ford Zetec engine installed, not surprising given the company’s specialisation, Gary revealed More >

A KINGDOM FOR MY (TWO) HORSE(S) – think about it!

A company that keep a very low profile, but offers a superb product is Citroën 2CV-specialist operation, Alexander’s 2CV, run by Alexander Boynton, based in Bury St Edmunds.

For many years, Alexander has offered parts, repairs and servicing facilities for the 2CV, and in recent times has produced the 2CV Pick-Up, which as the name implies, offers added practicality to the iconic French car’s fabled ride quality.

The car is built on a lengthened, galvanised 2CV chassis with an extended wheelbase. The pick-up still retains its interconnecting suspension but up-rated springs and shock absorbers are added. The lower bulkhead, toe board, floors More >

NEWARK SHORT SHORTS

Newark short shorts? Shouldn’t that be ‘hot pants’ then?! Er, maybe not!

Here’s some other exhibits at Newark last weekend that stood out…

Loving the look of the still ‘in-progress’ STR from Lister Bell Automotive – Craig White is a skilled engineer and this is a serious piece of kit. www.listerbellautomotive.com

Another (Nottinghamshire-based) manufacturer, GREAT BRITISH SPORTSCARS, is selling plenty of kits at the moment and they had a fine display of their many wares, including this lovely ZERO, at Newark. www.greatbritishsportscars.co.uk

Loved the DNA Automotive stand, which featured this gorgeous, 5Scudo, model. www.dnaautomotive.com
