Volkswagen Beetle guru, Dave Fisher of Kingfisher Kustoms in Smethwick has been working closely lately with Ed Morton of Pie Valley Buggies.

New VW Golf-based beach buggy chassis – a joint collaboration between Kingfisher Customs and Pie Valley Buggies

They unveiled the results of their recent labours at Stoneleigh, which is a beach buggy chassis set-up to accept Volkswagen Golf donor mechanicals.

This obviously moves the buggy theme on a few generations, with modern and capable components not to mention a highly-rated water-cooled four-cylinder engine.

Of course, if you are a diehard Beetle-man then Dave and co can help you.

Cool new version of Kingfisher Chenowth made its debut at Stoneleigh

Meanwhile, Dave also unveiled his new Kingfisher Chenowth Mk2 at the show, in Overland-spec. He originally made the Chenowth back in the eighties and he sold a good number of them.

The new version follows the tried and tested theme of the original but has nicely updated it.

What’s more, I love Dave. A proper superstar of the specialist car scene. I’ve known the bloke for 25-years and he has never changed and still cracks me up with his humour.
