I’ve known Duncan Cowper for more years than I care to remember and the one-time DJ Sportscars employee and DAX Rush stalwart has had a succession of bonkers versions of that model over the years and thanks to his exploits must have been responsible for a good chunk of the 1200 or so sold since Jürgen Möhr’s design first came to the UK in 1991.

Dunc’s current DAX Rush with 500+bhp and a turbo from an old Benetton F1 car

Dunc has always been able to go very swiftly in his cars, be it sprinting, hillclimbs, or you name it really. His latest version, with 500bhp+ Suzuki Hayabusa engine and a turbo from an old Benetton F1 car, really is the real deal.

The car is quick obviously, but Duncan is one of the finest drivers I’ve ever sat with in a car and I’ve continually said that if he had got the breaks he should have been doing British Touring Cars and the like.

Well, the world’s fastest plasterer (probably!) has just surpassed even his high calibre exploits recently, by winning the coveted Ten of the Best speed competition outright at Elvington, last weekend.

Up against no fewer than 128 other drivers, all equipped with shall we say, ‘tasty motors’ some with galactic horsepower, our Duncan dusted all of them, not only winning his own class but the overall title and as a result came away from North Yorkshire with a collection of new shiny pots.

Our Dunc with just one of his trophies

He was also part of Team Shed Built in the team competition, which they won by a staggering 79points from the nearest challenger, so we’d like to send our hearty congratulations to Duncan who was ably supported by the Geoff ‘of the jumper’ Page.

Great stuff, well done Dunc.

Not a bad haul from a weekend’s work. Duncan departed Elvington with a nice collection of pots having won TEN OF THE BEST 2017 outright
