news_zenosWymondham-based Zenos Cars has announced the availability of a power upgrade kit for its popular turbocharged E10 S model that take power up from the standard 250bhp to 280bhp, a significant increase over the standard model.

The kit also raises the peak torque figure to 30 lb/ft  – an increase of 15lb/ft – which is delivered over a wide range of engine speeds.

The upgrade kit for the best-selling variant of the Zenos E10 includes a new air intake, modified intercooler and revised ECU settings for the 2-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine. The ECU mapping was performed by experts Specialist Control Services, whose Delta range of ECUs is used across the Zenos E10 series and also as the specified control unit in the 2016 Mini Challenge race series.

Peak power is now produced at 6500 rpm – 500 rpm earlier than in the ‘regular’ E10 S. Performance figures are yet to be released, but the acceleration time and top speed (0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds and 145 mph respectively) of the E10 S are expected to be eclipsed by cars fitted with the upgrade kit.

Mark Edwards, Managing Director of Zenos Cars, said: “Since its launch in January 2015, the E10 S has firmly established itself as Zenos’s most popular model. In response to requests from customers, we’ve developed this upgrade kit to give them more of what makes the E10 S great to drive. We’ve already demonstrated that the innovative hybrid chassis of the E10 series is able to comfortably accommodate the extra power and torque, so the heightened performance is still matched to exceptional balance and poise.”

Simon Hill, Director of Specialist Control Systems, added: “SCS was delighted to be involved in the creation of this upgrade kit. As the supplier of all the ECUs used across the Zenos range, we were able to combine our vast automotive expertise and our familiarity with the product to produce a truly optimised solution that works in total harmony with the upgraded EcoBoost engine.

“While power and torque have both been increased, the upgrade kit also ensures the E10 S retains its flexibility and driveability, which are so integral to the usable and accessible character of the car.”

The new upgrade kit is available in all markets, and fitment can be carried out in one day by a sales or service agent, or at the Zenos factory. The kit can be fitted to new or pre-owned examples of the Zenos E10 S, and has no effect on existing warranties. In the case of cars where the warranty has expired, the upgrade kit components will be covered by a one-year warranty.

In the UK, the 280bhp upgrade kit for the Zenos E10 S costs £1995 inc VAT, exclusive of fitting. Zenos recommends that cars fitted with the upgrade kit are run on 97 RON fuel.

Like all Zenos models, the E10 S is built in the UK, where it has also been designed and developed, and where almost 100 per cent of its components are sourced.

In the UK the Zenos E10 range begins at just £26,995, with the turbocharged E10 S priced at £32,995 and the E10 R available from £39,995.
