Honda ‘Project 2&4 powered by RC213V’ concept could make production. Power comes from a de-tuned MotoGP engine delivering 215bhp…

Just lately, while working on the update for my A-Z of Kit Cars book, I’ve been delighted to hear from owners of cars that I believed to be lost, including, just yesterday a man from East Anglia who owns a Pennon Type 35, a car I believed to be a mayfly. Well, said gent owns one – very nice it is too – and has even sent me the image of it…

Difficult week for certain sections of the mainstream automotive industry and I wonder if certain journalists covering the production car scene will be quite so quick to look down their noses at kitcars now…

totalkitcar LIVE public sessions can now be booked online via the Motorsport Vision website. There are two sessions available for you to drive your kit or specialist car on the iconic Indy circuit. Each one lasts 15-minutes and costs £30 each.

steve_says_music23FROM THE TOTALKITCAR ARCHIVE – KENLEY TT

steve_says_kenleyIf you read above you’ll forgive me for being a bit dubious about claiming that this week’s archive kitcar must be a one-off, given the Pennon information I was presented with this week.

However, I think I would be confident in claiming that just one Kenley TT was produced. The car you see here taken at Newark in 1986 and hailing from a Norfolk operation.

The car wasn’t too bad looking but was clearly a bit rough around the edges. It was based on Triumph Vitesse mechanicals and a chassis from the same source…It came and quickly went in 1986…

DIGITAL READING – This method of reading TKC Mag has grown wings and taken off (sorry!) in recent months, so thanks to all who have taken the plunge. As I always say, personally, I always prefer the feel of a ‘real’ print-on-paper magazine or book, however, it appears that there are many who like to read their magazines digitally on android or iPad devices etc etc.

SNIPPETS 2……..Great British Sports Cars recently held their third ‘GBS Zero Run Out’ on September 6, with 15 Zero owners venturing out in their cars.

The intrepid band met at the Donington Park Museum, within the circuit, before departing on an enjoyable 95-mile route featuring a variety of roads, before heading to Rutland Water for refreshments, ending-up at a nice restaurant in Market Harborough.

A nice Sunday roast was enjoyed by all, and as an added bonus the weather was warm and sunny. Quite a novelty this summer…to find out more about the fourth GBS Zero Run Out or to just find out more about the products, visit www.greatbritishsportscars.co.uk.

STEVO’S REAL ALE RECOMMENDATION – EAST LONDON BREWING CO – JAMBOREE

steve_says_beer

Thanks for the über positive feedback over this beer-orientated weekly item. It’s our weekly real ale recommendation as with over 800 micro-breweries in the UK, cask beer drinkers are spoilt for choice. Let’s just point out that we definitely don’t condone drink/driving rather than enjoying a pint in moderation during your leisure time…

We’ll be looking at the small brewers of real ale rather than the larger ones. There really is plenty to choose from. Breweries also seemingly like this element of our site and some are even emailing us asking to be included!

A trip over to London’s Docklands on one of those funny and over-crowded train things presented the welcome chance to sample a pint or three of Jamboree, a brew from Hackney’s East London Brewing Company.

It’s a refreshing golden beer of 4.8% ABV that uses primarily Bramling Cross hops and a blend of lager, pale and wheat malt. Lovely stuff. More from www.eastlondonbrewing.com

Right, until next Friday (October 2), I wish you a fab week. Thank you sincerely for visiting (you’re one of an average 13,000 unique visitors per month). Do enjoy your driving but take care out on the roads. See Ya…

Best Regards

Steve
